Parent & Child Group

Led by a nurturing outdoor educator

This program is sponsored in part by a generous donation to create affordable family offerings in the Beaches Community supporting gentle parenting.

Spring River's Parent & Child Group is a Waldorf-inspired journey into the heart of what it means to parent a young child in today's world.

Our program is led by a warm and welcoming teacher of Spring River who is deeply committed to helping create a multi-cultural "learning community" of conscious and peaceful parenting.

The parenting journey of the young child can be a joyful wonder - but it can also at times feel isolating, lonely, or challenging. We have found that contact with others by talking, sharing, and meeting in a warm and calm setting can help us deeply connect with others on the same journey.

Join us for an all-outdoor experience engaging and nurturing our children and ourselves in an all outdoors playgroup setting. The focus of our time together will be how we can nourish ourselves as well as our relationship to nature, our children, and each other.

Our parent-child group follows a Waldorf early childhood rhythm which will include a provided snack.  The rhythm is as follows:

9:30  Free play- with an option for natural crafts for adults and children alike.  Gentle introduction of the day's topic for adults.

10:00 Circle with interactive seasonal songs

10:15  Wash hands, table setting, and snack

11:00  Play Time

11:15  Seasonal Story

11:30  Goodbye

At each meet-up, the group will discuss various aspects of parenting, starting with the topic of the importance of lifelong interaction with nature.

This program is specially designed for parents/caregivers and their children ages 2 -4 years.  Because of space limitations and supplies, we ask for a ratio of one child per caregiver. Registration is limited to five caregivers and their children.  The price is reduced through generous community support to only $75 for a four-week session. Siblings may attend for an additional $25 each.
